she stands upon a narrow bridge alone
a bridge named "now and here"
where all her foolish fear has gone
in the wide span between there and there
on one side lay living shadows of past
on the other a future not shown
but she holds high the light
in the midst of her night
as she crosses into the unknown
and sings a secret song only she can hear
in a long forgotten tongue
crossing the bridge disowning all fear
she climbs the ladder rung by rung
there is nothing left to cling to
alone in the bridge's center
no one else can bring to
her a new spring out of winter
intently she gazes into the dark
while she hangs by a fragile rope
she sees on the other side a spark
could it be called "hope"?

I found this poem soothing. Full of subtle nuances, and a hint of imagination that makes me think that she is an immortal. Wonderful poem.

LaBelle,
Love the point od view here and the setting, a bridge of sighs and indecisions, a crossing over and a look back and to the future; very well thought through and with real impact.

Such a beautiful, peaceful photograph that just melts into the words you so carefully wrote. Oh the inspirational flow in this is so amazing with a meloncholy overtone to polish. Bravo, this is so expressively beautiful in a shy way....

Almost a spiritual feel to your words as I read this I thought of love lost suddenly...sucicides, car crashes, soldiers killed on battlefields etc and the lady who pines away alone. Very crisp images here...

Hi LaBelle, SIGH! Do you have a camera on my life, girl? I swear, you write on the impulse of life itself. Always a wonder your writing is. The music matches perfectly, too! I will breathe this one in and exhale with that "spark". Thank you... for always sharing your best....
