think before you speak, think of
your own heart, the scars it bears
the many sorrows that pierced it
and remember, others’ hearts are
no less scarred and beleaguered
would you harshly add to their pain
while longing for surcease of yours?
let your words be judiciously chosen
and your voice a calm river of healing
in midst of a troubled, war torn land
remember the prayer of St. Francis
and make it the cry of your heart
think before you act, and remember
when a thing is done it can’t be undone
whether results are healing or hurtful
assumption should be guarded against
things may be far from what they seem
judging is much more destructive to you
than it can ever be to the ones you judge
seek peace, “blessed are the peacemakers”
when expressing the fire of convictions
don’t burn to ash spirits of adversaries
and don’t turn away in anger from those
who are different but can enrich your life
THIS TOUCHES ME. AND I GUESS IT'S BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN GUILTY OF NOT THINKING BEFORE I BLURTED OUT SOMETHING THAT I REGRETTED. IT HAPPENS AND I THINK THE ONLY THING ABOUT SUCH MOMENTS THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED IS THE FACT THAT IT WAS NOT CONTEMPLATED, PLANNED, PLOTTED OR VICIOUSLY CARRIED OUT BUT HAPPENED IN AN UNCONTROLLED MOMENT...A MOMENT WHICH I THINK EVERY HUMAN BEING ON THE PLANET CAN RELATE TO. WISE SHARING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT I AM STILL TRYING TO OVERCOME, THOUGH I AM BETTER, BUT DEFINITELY STILL LEARNING AND FERVENTLY PRAYING ABOUT. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS KEEPER, LABELLE. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
Great words, La Belle Rouge..."think of your own heart,
the scars it bears....".
There are times when doing the right thing involves a lot
more than just doing whatever seems to feel right...being
thoughtful about what we say is one of them.
Once words are said...they can only be forgiven...never...
forgotten.
With warm regards Isabella.
Belle, life is a merry-go-round of positive and negative encounters with our fellow man. Managing interpersonal relationships is a life long challenge. Considering and determining the adversity others are facing, we often overlook. Sometimes unintentionally and at other times out of poorly managing our own challenges and permitting them to overwhelm our emotions. Your, 'Before You Speak' is a well written alert to the reality we all can be guilty of ego driven actions when analysis is always the prudent, compassionate action. Managing diversity as you proclaim, "can enrich your life". May peace and love be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael
Life's too short to ignore such words of wisdom and grace, Belle, and blessed are they that live by them. On the other hand, life is made painful, heavy and long by and for those who are wracked by such ills. You have poured healing balm on minds and hearts that are in need of such comfort - to receive or administer - with your well-constructed thoughts structured into beautiful stanzas. xx
'Your voice a calm river of healing'---------- BEAUTIFUL!!!...'And make it the cry of your heart'----EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!! MOST TALENTED!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Liana Margiva
