I am at peace with who I am
even if some may not appreciate
the poetry flowing from my heart
or the reality of exposed emotions
I am a woman who owns her desires
celebrates the beauty of femininity
is not afraid to express admiration
for all that is masculine and strong
I know the path I must walk
though it is not one I would choose
I am determined to drain every drop
of life’s bountiful, brief wine of joy
from each moment it’s offered to me
for as a wise one once said, “there is
no happiness, only moments of joy”
I’ll balance pain with those moments
I know who knows and loves me
with all my many faults open to view
and all the obstacles fate constructed
tenacity, dependability, beauty of spirit
these are his gifts I enjoy each day
the past is dead, the future unknown
I live in the “now” with love and hope
and I am at peace with who I am
Words, sentiment and image are beautifully complementary, Belle, and this exudes warmth and unselfconscious sincerity of heart and soul as well as clarity of both vision and mind. It's a good place to be and how we all long to remain there, once we have attained even a momentary glimpse of how good it feels to both know and be at peace with the who we are. I've always been at peace with you although I found your genre alien to my desire, you are always there shining like a lighthouse in the distance, calling me home from the sea. I fear for your not posting, but I believe I understand why.
