Running Away
By La Belle Rouge

Do you ever want to run away
Where feathered seagulls fly low
And happy dolphins jump and play?
Where the sky is bright blue
And the aqua sea is calm and clear.
Would you like to run far from here?

Have you seen unicorns frolic in the fields
And a white Pegasus fly through the air?
Have you known the joy of fairytale thrills
As your imagination takes you everywhere?

Do you ever imagine juniper trees
In an ancient, enchanted, deep wood
Where all the deer live as they please
And the owl watches from her perch?
Moon sings at night and birds during day
Do you ever wish you could run away?

Have you flown wanting to spend the day
in a kingdom of knights and dragons far away?
sailing the sea with Jack Sparrow’s scurvy crew?
Remember in all you do, your dreams belong to you!

Would you like to stand on a mountain tall
And look down on the town below
Where all the houses seem so small
And the people move like busy bugs?
Ride your wandering dreams without fear
But when you wake you’ll still belong here!

La Belle, whoever reads this if they are blessed with a well endowed imagination can't help but have their hearts, minds and even their souls jump-started by the images you paint in words. Well done.

What a sensational poem!
Written as only a poetess of the heart could feel it and convey it.
I am astounded at the beauty within this rendering...

Oh belle, I tried running away. I sat on the front step with my pillow. My mom came out handed me a postage stamp and told me to write when I got there.......I still don't think it was funny.

Excellent write

Yes I would (and sometimes do in dreams) go to the places that you have suggested/imagined, Belle. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

A venture that I haven't seen you take before. I think a child would love to have this read to him or her. It's funny, but as a child, I never wanted to run away. But as I grew older, I wanted to go to sunny California, and eventually I did, only to find that the sun was blocked by fog about 4 o'clock every afternoon.
