Travels With The Cat

One starry night when the moon was bright
And happy lightning bugs flickered and flew
A little girl and her cat on dewy grass sat
Wondering where to travel and what to do

The pretty cat named “Kitty” thought it a pity
To sit still and waste such a wonderful night
She said to her girl whose name was “Pearl”
“Lets go out in the world and see some sights”

“Where to go Pretty Kitty and how to get there?”
Pearl asked with a naughty twinkle in her eye
“We can go where we choose, almost anywhere”
So pack your bags Little Girl and wave goodbye”

The cat was travel-smart, which is a feline art
For she had roamed neighbors’ gardens at night
So she said “For a start, just follow your heart
And our trip will be filled with fun and delight!”

“We’ll hunt juicy snails and chase our long tails
Listen to bullfrogs sing their loud, croaky songs
When we see a mouse he’ll run…. it never fails
But we’ll spy another chubby one before long”

“Then we’ll hide in the bushes and take a catnap
When we wake, walk the top of a fence for a while
At shinning silver stars our soft paws we’ll slap
By then we will have traveled at least a mile”

“We rush back late at night before it turns light
And we’ll quickly jump back into our soft beds
If we’re gone at dawn will give our folks a fright
So we’ll lie purrfectly still and cover our heads!”
