HIJACKED HOPE

She lay upon the bathroom floor

Pale soft skin

Black and white ceramic tile

So cold

Sterile

Her fetal curl

Hopeless brace

Against the next vicious attack

Nausea

Racks her frail frame

Palsied reaction

Violent trembling

Cold sweats

Another sleepless night

Clutching to hijacked hope

Withdrawal junkie demons

Merciless

Wretched

Screaming committee

Bombards her racing brain

Fierce temptation

“Just one more fix will make you well”

48 hours of coming down

She reaches for the filthy needle

Craving simply

To drift away
