This must be somewhere in Tornado Alley. I lived with that fear for five years in the midwest. I danced with the devil many nights, in my bathtub, cat in carrier, old mattress on top of us, praying, praying. Great work.

Well after listening to all the other weather and nature horror stories that abound in North America, I am thankful I live in Nova Scotia where the worst we have to fear is cold and snow. lol

Well, Hurricaines, Tornado's, blizzards at least all come with some type of warning, decide what to do. Try living in earthquake country where the ground opens up from under you with no warning. All we can really ever do is have faith in God......

I sure know what you mean...as I was a Regional Mgr for 12,000 apts thruout the US and the owners always had reasons why "not to do"...and I had to fight all the time to make things safer and better! We had one complex that 3 apts were hit with tornadoes more than once during one storm season!!!! The man in one would not leave...he was a native american Indian and refused to go...said it was at the right angle, and his Gods wanted him to stay.....so we moved him next door while we replaced the roof! The wall! and part of his kitchen! Only to do it again...and then again!!! We did have storm shelters there tho...(Midwest).... but my Gib had to always fix something down there too....duh... seems like money is only good when the owners keep it....while the residents suffer or die! hope you will both be safe Karla... sorry... just stay strong is all I can say... hugs, lindalaw

You're trying to confront your StormFear by writing poetry/taking pictures or videos of it. But when tornadoes are in the forecast, another thing entirely! Yesterday was just a little TOO hairy. Thank God, no tornadoes here, but it was a near thing. I wish we could move to Alaska....Excellent write, StormSpinner; just don't understand why there are no shelters here! Should be mandatory, like you said in this compelling poem! And that piccy: WOW!! Rotation City! Whatta'hook!!

The City ONLY fixes what THEY THINK needs to be fixed to put up a good front, so they leave who they think "the little people" suffer.
