Rusty leaves fall silently to the soil,

A carpet of dead leaves covers the ground,

I walk on it, with my heart in turmoil,

Like a condemned man would walk gallows-bound.

Mist settles, like teardrops, upon the tree-trunks,

A cobweb glistens with autumn's tearful pearls,

A few leaves hang on like discarded junks,

Or unfurled drapes for the playful squirrels.

Autumn's melancholy, like heavy stone,

Sits on my heart, forcing tears to my eyes,

For all my sins how I'd love to atone,

For all my misdeeds I now agonise.

Till from this Earth I'll finally depart,

There'll be permanent autumn in my heart.

So moving and so very spiritually illuding. A heavy heart takes time to heal, but heal it will and then the sun will shine brightly upon your smiles.....

Be safe,
Karen

Indeed Peter, the season is in harmony with your feelings. It may be sad but it is real and effectively expressed in your verses. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Truly a beautiful write, Peter; she will live on in your heart and in these words! Very well penned! So sorry for your loss! God be with you, knowing the holidays are approaching. Hard to find the joy in Christmas when you've lost someone so dear to your heart!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in America, Karen Lynn in Texas. :( >tears! <
