Not to see, not to hear,

Not to feel, not to fear,

Not to taste, not to touch,

Not to grip, not to clutch,

Not to hope, not to dream,

Not to shout, not to scream,

Not to run, not to fly,

Not to weep, not to cry,

Not to laugh, not to smile…

...Just to stop for a while…

Not to rest, not to flee,

Yes maybe, no maybe…

To be Jew isn’t much fun,

Against head loaded gun…

How to feel?… You tell me!…

…Jew be?… or not Jew  be?…

Postscript:

This verse was intended to be in the Preface to my

Published autobiographical novel: Jew Be or Not Jew Be.

I can’t remember why, at the final editing I decided

 to omit the piece.)

Perhaps next time… in a second edition?...

You are doing an important work, Peter, when you share the souls of Jews during those horrible years. Thank you.

Comment: Perhaps you left it out because at the time you published your book, there was no longer an issue...I would hope that was part of the reason for omission.

God Bless,

Peter,

Excellent write of the struggle many Jewish people go through, continue to go through. Worse than Gentiles, that's for sure. And I think I have it rough...not even CLOSE. Well done, my friend.

Hello Peter! I think your poem illustrates why so many Jewish people have turned to atheism. It is sad, but when one is hunted down for their religion, you have to ask: What is the purpose of Judaism?

I hope all is well and I'd like to wish you L'Shanah Tovah.
