Poem Artwork

I put a hand up
to shade my eyes,
air on white linen
like the breeze
kissing my soul,
and you
in the barn
down the road.

"Wildflowers,"
you said
and laced them
across my bare legs,
fragrant spiders
dripping color on my skin
and your laughter
the music I dream to.

"Mountains protect,"
and I said the words
knowing they weren't true ,
that the fields go on for miles,
and that you would not
follow me home,
but them.

One free spirit, and one dedicated to the land - they meet...never to connect. One of life's unique images poetically penned. Well done!

ooooo, a real bloke would would follow such a free spirited lass anywhere.
Always be true to ones soul, and never netted or over protected unless true love is found... is how this reads, so many lasses accept unworthy blokes just for the sake of it.... you can see I've been reading Hardy, lol but it is still the same ....

So elliptical, Michelle, and I love the confidence you breathe into this write. You have crafted the art of leaving out so much more than you put in which gives this such scope and such a vast canvas. And YET we feel we can really get into these two characters and weave a whole novel about them. Great work! And I ADORE the realism of the fragmentary speech and non-sequeters (??) of thinking... so true to life. "your laughter the music I dream to" is wonderful. The painting, also beautiful - so European. A great combo to enjoy and feast on, thank you. PS... Also love your gorgeous bio pic... think that about wraps it up for now! Kate xx

You are a soul overflowing with love -
Diamond like sparkles on a wind-tossed pond -
Gentle breezes elevating long strands of hair -
Beams of sunlight shifting through the willows -
A soft soul searching for meaning ...

Your verses, inspired by the lovely painting, create a vivid portrait in the mind of the reader; one that awakens the senses to the moments you describe. Thank you for sharing this gift, Michelle. Love and best wishes,
