This was just an idea that popped in my head as I love things gothic and ghostly! :)

Poem Artwork

Skidding across the lid with a splutter

from death to dust is what he muttered

man in robe of black and collar white

making sure to get each last word right

hands and heart she reached out to the Lord

prayers of peace and grace for her own accord

with brown eyes fixed on her final resting place

she drifted through the air without a trace

he was there- she saw him as she dangled in the trees

his bald head down as he prayed long on his knees

clutching papers with sweet words so long forgotten

by some people, it’s true -- but not by their begotten

rustling chipmunks scampered and overheard

the moan and tears of their love’s last word

written deep inside on the edge of their bones

his still amongst the living, though hers-- all alone

"I will love you even when we are dead"

how he wrestled with those bittersweet words that she said

but now that she’s a ghost tangled up in branches and sky

"I’m coming with you, my love," is his final reply

Its facinating how you compile words in manner that they come alive on paper. You are truly gifted. Good work. milton handfield

I am drawn to the melancholy and eerie feel to this poem just as I'm drawn to All Hallow's Eve. Your imagery is thick and I can imagine a heavy mist/fog encroaching on the scene. I like the juxtaposition, if you will, of the title (and its relation to living) to the funeral setting (and its relation to dying).

I feel like I'm seeing yet another side to you, Michelle. I like this eerie piece with its romantic undertone. Great work:)

your work resonates with a surrealistic aura -- mystery and the echos of words no longer spoken, and yet fresh on the winds -- the ghostly image you painted clings to the message center in my mind -- let the light of love guide your heart to great peace my dear friend -- Jon Michael

Michelle,
I hope your health is better.

About the work, the impact is as you intended, atmospheric, ghostly, gothic and quite mysterious...this poem has a strong and lasting aftertaste.

Although this is sad and poignant it is also a testament to the power of love and how two hearts that are in love can never be truly separated not by miles, not by time and even not by death. It is a unique and origianal twist on the lover's leap concept and the imgery already set by the graphic continues to flow the whole way through.....love it.

Michelle, Is this a ghostly reminder that as Johnny Cash sang,
"True love never dies,"? This is a tough story to render effectively without sounding campy, but you have given it a light, but serious touch. Pretty good writing, Michelle. I enjoyed the imagery and message here.
