Anxiously awaiting the tall monster
sleeps on the pad
lines of life clinging with fuel to help
bright lights to greet the show
I embrace the welcome sight
low bid technology---
actually a fright
An splendid orchestra of stars
await in the ever present stage
of planets, solar systems and beyond
A mighty drive into space
begins the journey of a steel might
the flight of a lifetime
guided by instruments
Manned flight
into oblivion
a marked point in the universe
the end of mankind
Zero gravity they float
like children at play
repeated for an audience
no wires they are carefree
work abounds to repair
fix and replace
pull and connect
so many things to do
Thinking...
The hope of a nation
not long ago
went agasp twice
for lives lost on a falling star
In space they go
for mankind knows no more
we are connected
but a few missions
the community of mankind
beyond our minds
to say again
why not?
where to?
I hope the next
is the moon and Mars
far less visited
a great imagination
once just a dream.

Beautiful write - I remember watching man's first step on the moon - I was 10 - and have followed the Shuttle (and now Mars) exploration, if only from this side of the screen - you've blasted into the spacelover in my soul with this one!
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
