I woke up in the still of the night,
Alone, cold and all is black.
I feel my heart beat with a fright,
Yearning for my love to comfort me.
My lids close, I think of him,
His gentle hand upon my breast,
A warm glow heats within.
Lips we share in complete content.
The moon awakens with a bounce,
Dancing to the beat of our hearts.
Planets sing with every ounce,
Saturn throws rings of fluorescent fire.
Stars twinkle of silver and gold, Angels sprinkle magical dust.
Clouds orchestrate music to behold,
The galaxy echos, 'Love is in the Air'
Now my room is warm and bright,
Fears have vanished, I feel safe.
With my babe by my side, all seems so right,
A gift we'll celebrate from our hearts to the heavens.
Mankind seeks, no, craves the love and warmth of a warm body close beside them in the dark of night. This poem expresses so well what that feeling is like and the simple pleasure it brings that means so much.
