Just how beautiful is this!
Indeed you're so right about a smile. I smiled at an elderly lady in the bank, on my way out she ran up and thanked me for making her day. BTW, I've also been whacked for smiling at a woman.

Thank you for sharing this story. It's so true. I recently went shopping in a bad mood. An elderly man gave me a smile for no reason and my mood improved instantly. Smiles are magic and especially so when we take the time to give them to those who don't receive them regularly. A touching read!

This is such a beautiful story./poem..I shed tears reading this. Isn't it such a sad day when you realize just how alone and painful people are living. And a very happy day, when you realize that a smile and a hello can make all the difference! The tired, weary, overworked, the overlooked. There is where the passion of real men resides. Regard them not lightly. In the end shall they become the mighty. A very moving poem and story. This reminds me of when my son and I visited Washington, DC - no one looked you in the eye, let alone smile. You knew in an instant that you'd come to a place where if you smiled, others knew you weren't from there.
A smile feels good to receive and to give. Your daughter is learning the value is something that doesn't cost money.
