In stretched table of the firmament upon lacy cloth of billowed cloud: layered stacks of puffy pancakes drenched in maple syrup sun and buttered with the melting hues of day.
On serving platter, a turquoise-teal rimmed with tinted waves of tangerine: persimmon chunks, sauced caramel. Somewhere in distant memory sounds rise up from painted carousel
and in diminishing perspectives: cotton candy spun in shades of blue. Blackbirds circle raspberry sky as tiger swallowtails spiral drawn by nectar sure to satisfy.
Filled with Creator’s show of glory, I breathe scent of nature’s wonder, pause, ponder heaven’s plentiful spread. Sun sinks, lights dim, and I withdraw, replete, my soul at rest, well-fed.
