Five falls since the blinding light, absurdly resplendent days of summer followed by rays so golden and double-edged that they pierced her.
She remembers plummeting down, diminished by a swelling sudden dark that enveloped her world and silenced all voices save the single scream that was hers.
Falling, rising, stumbling, tumbling again. Even best pharmaceuticals only decelerate odd rapid cycling of biochemical imbalance that so reflects nature’s contrasts in her.
Very sensitive and insightful look into the rise and fall of biochemical imbalance. A subject horribly misunderstood by many. Thank you for posting this.

Understanding is at least a key to conquering the swell and riding the waves of the storm whilst they are at their highest. We have been educated whilst young that chemicals can bring instant answers to everything - now we realise that they can often cause as many problems as they appear to solve and there's some confusion about which, in a "cocktail", might be causing what. Your positive thinking is your best ally, perhaps, and I would love to see the cleverly serated-edge you have written here turn into more of a softly lilting ebb and flow - a rhythm rather than a peak followed by a crash. A literal "going with the flow", in the knowledge that tomorrow is another day and that life is "in the moment". If it is at all possible to tackle the root of the depression, (if it is known), then the "fruit" and "tree" that has grown up around it may wither and die. Just a few thoughts here, Dawn, as I have a depressive tendancy, I think (my father was a paranoid schizophrenic), but I would definitely encourage you to continue your wonderful writing in the context of taking it out into an arena where you are sharing with other writers. Pain initially fuelled my pen, and I think poetry in particular is often embarked upon at times of acute physical or emotional trauma. But, for me, prayer is my answer to everything and is where all my personal junk goes... to return time and time again sometimes, washed up again on storm's beach, but it does tend to diminish in the end... Thinking of you and praying for light always to be at the end of your tunnel...and within it... LOL Kate xx

Depression is a horrid illness Dawn....of the Dark...just like Suicide..
