Stars in My Eyes

It's no wonder you got lost.
These eyes. green as the rolling Irish fields,
deep as a spring-fed lake, can't seem to read the horizons
of this blue planet, beautiful. 

Yet, I see so clearly the sparkling wine 
of this universe poured out upon us, tumbling
like a river wild through us, redirecting us
ever toward each other and home.

There have always been stars in my eyes,
sure comfort of a heavenly grace, wrapped
as a robe of many colors, transulcent, layered light
around the two of us and the whole creation groaning.

It took me so long to understand
the promise of that rainbow we were wrapped within
and just how fortunate and blessed we are
to share this gift divine.

Still, I am blind to the ways of this world,
puzzled by present predicament
and this humble humanity I treasure
but find so foreign to my knowing. 

Seven stars cast down on these infinite seas.
You and I sail on by night and day:
You ever the explorer extraordinaire with such precise
navigation, a sailor's instinct and charismatic way, and I

Standing through the night, eyes fixed
on a distant land unseen, this untamed heart beating
in sync to the music of a starlit night, hair toussled by sea breeze,
immortalized on your ship's story here on its maiden voyage. 

Ocassionally we are brought to life, stardust
rising serpentine in a dance that seems familiar. 
We weave in and out of love, you gazing into these starry eyes
surrendered and ever searching for your sweet soul.

I'm not sure who this is written for, that I find it both fascinating and enthralling. Your words are like honey from heaven to be savored and never squandered.
