That night
that night you called
tears and fears
ran together
like two streams
inseparable,
forged a rushing, raging
river unstoppable.
We mourned with twin hearts
full of grief, anticipating
tomorrow’s parting of the ways.
Necessary, we said then, and
unavoidable – time: not a
friend of love’s deepest, true st source.
We said goodbye but the current
surged on; love stayed strong.
All these
years: hemispheres,
oceans vast,
between us – these
trickling hearts
refuse to be
denied by tides of time,
flow together at last.

At last together. A lot of water flowed under the dam on and on till it converged in the sea. What a very happy ending this can be. Good luck. Bill Murray
