My soul seeks a clearing,
small opening to expansive space
where this woman can
be conceived,
mystery born
into her life.
Potent emotion spills,
like water breaking, a signal that
the time has come now
to become
a babe again
and learn to live.
God (who is not a man),
come close, contain this painful labor,
in communion bring
me into
holy presence,
love’s fruition.
Allow me, mother of
myself, to take shape and be transformed—
new self called forth to
dance free with,
pure abandon,
liberated.
