Way, way back when I was in elementary school (private parochial, Catholic) - the word 'every' was hyphenated for pronunciation as 3 syllables - ev-er-y and pronounced as 3 syllables.
So, naturally I was confused - how could this be 5-7-5 ? But, after checking both WIKIPEDIA's dictionary and MIRIAM-WEBSTER, I stand corrected!
Seems somewhere along the line, potic use became -- ev-ri ... and / or eve-ry.
