The Look

The Look

What had become of the clever little girl?

Her mind was in a whirl

She used to live life with great abandon

Now, she felt abandoned

 

Life’s ups and downs

Could be seen on her face lined from frowns

The tears stained her face

Would she ever get to feeling safe?

 

She remembered how laughter once filled the air

Life just didn’t seem quite fair

This once confident young lady

Could scarcely remember her heyday

 

She was fraught with despair

Thinking she needed to get out of this lair

But, how? How?

She had to abandon this thinking, right now

 

She put on her favorite red dress

Lest she digress

Put on her matching shoes and hat

And added her lovely chinchilla wrap

 

Out the door she flew

Deciding to have a cocktail or two

She wasn’t going to sit around and wait

To see if she’d ever get a date

 

The night air was filled with excitement

She was going to have fun – on this she was bent

Her feet got to tapping

Realizing that she might have a fling

 

Her confidence back on track

She’d gotten despair off her back

And all it took

Was wearing "the look"

I agree with Ed, getting dispair of our back is great no matter how...but many times for me dressing up in my favorite dress does makes me feel a bit more confident and happy with myself...a great write indeed, one that we can all relate to...well done indeed!

Anytime coming the blues give your heart a make-over with all kind of fantabulous pick-me-ups and go conquer the world. The "look" will come itself without being called.

Dear Kathy, Not every day is the same, this is why we all
need something that makes us feel better. My dad used to say, if you don't feel good go shop something nice for yourself or for a friend .
You will thereafter feel better. Nice poem. Love Emile

I think we all feel the need for that look from time to time...either wearing it or receiving it...the excitement of possibilities is strong.

In some cases the "Look" will catch the eye of an Adonis. Great pick me up for us gals.
