i dreamed of a clematis vine filled of many flowers and many stems intertwined upon a trellis healthy it thrived and it climbed I thought of the way it clung gracefully weaving through spaces feelers exposed blossoming buds into flowers royal purple and velvet yellow, sincerity is its inner enthusiasm its conscious innocence tolerant and flexible to spring rains life support was its trellis sturdy and hardy wood anchored in soil weathered it stood all the tests of time, seasons and climate
I have a white clematis growing happily with honeysuckle on my mailbox, Debbie. You've captured the beauty, the grace, and the strength of the plant perfectly...and it is a survivor plant. I always love to remember that a clemtis loves it's face in the sun and it's feet in the shade.

Indeed, a lovely tribute, and one worthy of such an indigenous part of my life that hails, in all its various forms, the end of winter and the fruitfulness of the year ahead. It's a "leaner" rather than a climber, and you point up well here how tenacious it is, given its utter dependence on that all-important trellis. Nature's lesson in trust. TY Kate xx
