Poem Artwork

she has an altar in her room
reminders of things she’d like to be
a Buddha, a candle, and purified water
her touchstone says happiness
i sensed she was searching outside
for that inner peace she had
somewhere forgotten
compensating, her kitchen
overflows with unique utensils
and cookware of generations
a library of books she’d never read
and art pieces inspiring zen
her gardens groomed
and abundance grows
she sits on a terraced lawn
overseeing her world
around her the mountains
gently embrace her lands
devoted to her children
they have consumed her
she wants to write and draw
compose a book
her grand piano quietly sits
collecting the frames
within which she exists
and tho we’d never met
i could not stop the feeling
i knew her

like several others here, I found this poem took me way back...when I remember the sound of piana, guitar, banjo and violin being played...while I played with a cast iron car by an old pot bellied wood burner...and to pictures of relatives on walls and tables...people I never met, but somehow...knew.
This is an outstanding piece of work, lady poet.

some people have an intense pretense that continues to permeate the atmosphere of their surroundings after they're gone or even if we haven't met them ... excellent work here ...

OMG this is spot on....I know this little "grand" spot...standing silently...waiting to be touched again!!

Vivid imagery you painted here...I could almost touch it!!

Before I was born, the sound of a Steinway piano filled my world, after the umbilical cord was cut, my world had only the sound of that piano left.
Memories came rushing reading the poem.

Very descriptive write that looks into the soul of the woman who is the subject and reaches out to touch her with a sweet empathy of kinship.

A musical instrument that can give much joy, remains silent. Sad but so well writ. Victor

It is important that we adorn the trees of our lives with special things - but it is always so sad when they just remain things.

Debby,
this was kind of sad because with all that searching, that beautiful insturment that can bring such joy and emotional release just sits there collecting memories.
If it weren't for my guitar...I would have been this crazy long ago...

Walt
