Between last Thursday and yesterday,
Pride has visited the vet twice already.
He has a lot of white fluids in his tummy,
the vet has drained 1625ml of white fluids
out of his tiny little body,
and that's a lot of fluids from a cat's tummy!
These past few days Pride would often walk by me,
and look up at me through those big green eyes
as if to ask me if I could make him feel better.
I feel sad because I could not perform any miracles.
I could only pick him up to stroke and pet him,
and in return, he would show his gratitude by purring loudly.
I still leave my dear husband's cane in the bedroom
on the side of the bed where my sweetheart used to sleep,
and these past few days I have caught Pride,
on several occasions, wanting to lie close to my husband's cane.
I think perhaps my husband's spirit is here to comfort him.
Pride has always been close to my husband when he was alive.
I think my husband is watching over us, and he knows Pride is sick.
I hope he can, in some ways, make Pride feel better when I cannot.
Pride has been very close to me too after my husband's passing.
He would look up to me for food and comfort
as well as everything else as if I'm his mommy.
It is no surprise because we had brought him into our house
when Pride was only 10 weeks old.
He was a little devil then.
He was brought to us in a little green box.
When he arrived first thing he did was to climb out of that box,
then he began to run around all over the place.
He was so tiny he would fit right into my palm and look up
at me with those tiny-little-wee eyes, and meowed "Feed me!"
He would jump around as if he was Super Mario,
always landing with precision,
right on the top of a tiny spot!
and then he would jump down
and start all over again
like a little ball of energy fire!
He grew very fast, almost as fast as lightning.
I remember Pride was only small for two weeks.
On the third week, he grew to twice his original size.
Then he would grow and grow, and before you know it
he was already 20 lbs. with thick bones and hard muscles!
Not fats but hard muscles, like a bull-dog type of muscles!
I am heartbroken!
I am afraid my Big Boy Pride is nearing the end of his journey,
and will not have much more time left in this world.
The vet has drawn some blood samples and the white fluids
to send to the lab for analysis.
I am hoping and praying it is nothing serious.
Today, Pride just wants to be by himself.
He would not come near anyone.
Not even let my daughters two kitties near him.
He has been eating very little for the past few days,
and also has very few bowel movements,
I'm afraid he is going to leave us soon.
I will call the vet tomorrow morning
for the result of the blood test and the white fluids.
I hope my husband is watching over him.
And May God bless my Big Boy Pride
as he has given so much joy
to our family.
You have written a deep poem expressing the love and affection from a pet to a human. I had to put my dog to sleep a few years ago. I do understand your feelings here. at time we need to love them enough to let them go. My prayers are with you, Sandie dear
Sandie, this is very touching. I love the way you comfort Big Boy Pride and the way he purrs with gratitude. I believe your husband's spirit is near that cane. I REALLY do!! God bless your Big Boy Pride!!
I know that the vet will do his/her best to find out what is wrong with Pride can help make him better, but at 14 years, I'm afraid that Pride has lived a normal cat's life and it is now nearing and end. If that is something that is curable, that would be wonderful and you should continue to give him the best life possible for the little time he does have left as a cat.
Very sorry to hear that Big Boy Pride has fallen on hard times. Hoping there is something the vet can do for him after he gets the tests results. Again, I am sorry, and hoping for the best.
Our pets become part of our family, and we feel they same way when they get sick just as much as we do for our own flesh and blood. If they could only tell us what's wrong. I wish the best for you and Pride.
Thank you so much for your comment! Pride has been with us for the last 14 years. He had practically grown with all of us, especially our kids. It will be sad for us all if he has to leave; yet at the same time, we do not want him to suffer unnecessarily. We are putting his life in God's hands. Whatever God decides it would be for the best of Pride.
I'm so sorry for your loss too of your dear Sammy-boy. May God bless him always.
I feel your pain, Sandie.
Whatever happens, Pride's legacy will always remain.
My most favorite cat, Sammy-boy passed away two years today.
I pray that cats can go to heaven so I can see him someday.
His memory will not go away and my wife and I talk about Sammy-boy most every day.
He brought joy into our lives and uplifted our spirits.
We will all have to leave this earth.
What we leave in our gift to God and God's people.
Even a cat can leave a lasting legacy.
It depends on how many hearts they touched with their paws.
Amen
I’ve encountered many non-human creatures on my life’s journey.
I have found each and every one of these animals to be a unique and wondrous being.
Animals have truly brought fullness to my life. Some of them have also brought de
