I will always love my grandmother no matter what people may say about her. To me, my grandmother was an Angel.
VERSION OF A GRANDMOTHER
The version of a grandmother is so different from one grandchild to another. While I praised my grandmother for how she had treated me, some of my siblings may not agree with me; my cousins who had been living in the same house also may not agree either, and one of my cousins (my auntie's daughter) even told me grandma had often knuckled her head - this was news to me.
The grandma I know had my best interest in her heart. She shared all the good stuff with me. When grandfather brewed her some good things for her health, or whenever she had some healthy stuff to eat, she would always call me to her room to share them with me because she said I was too skinny. To me, Grandma was an Angel!
I’m glad you have retained the happy memories of your Grandmother Sandie…
It what she was to you, and how you remember her that is important…sometimes people can see others through their own distorted lens…
There is a saying that says we see people not as THEY are…but as WE are…
OUR CHERISHED MEMORIES OF THOSE GONE ON...GOOD OR BAD...ARE A PART OF US AND IMPORTANT TO US. I HAD A WONDERFUL GRANDMA. MY NANA'S NAME WAS, BUTTERFLY. HER REAL NAME WAS LOUISE BUT NO ONE CALLED HER THAT. SINCE I HAVE NO SISTERS OR BROTHER...MY OPINION ALONE COUNTS(SMILE). SHE WAS A GREAT LADY, SHE LOVED ME VERY MUCH AND I LOVED HER. I'M GLAD WE SHARE SUCH FINE MEMORIES ABOUT OUR GRANDMOTHERS. THIS SHARING BROUGHT BACK GOOD MEMORIES, INDEED. THANK YOU. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS.
I love this this. It is funny how people have the same vision, but different interpretations. I love my grandmother also and this took me back to a beautiful time.
My grandmother was quite strict. Made me take a nap and kept me from running around outside. Staying awake the whole time waiting for her to come and tell us we could run outside again. But later in life, she became my companion for road trips that we both enjoyed, both with her driving and with me driving.
My other grandmother was a softy who made great eggs from her chickens in the morning. I remember seeing her comb her waist length gray hair on the dining room table like rolling bread dough. I would have taken her on road trips, too, but mom said that she had a heart condition so I didn't.
Without the medicines you describe, my first grandmother got cancer and died. My second grandmother got Alzheimer's and died five years later at 90.
I have placed a comment to you on your Facebook's post, but I might as well place the same comment here as well:
You are right, Sandie! The Version of a grandma or grandparents, or even parents rests upon the grandchildren or children. Every child is an individual and may have different feelings towards their parents and grandparents. You are blessed to have a loving grandmother who had your best interest in her heart.

You were so blessed to have such a precious grandma! I too had a very special grandma who baked cinnamon rolls for me and taught me to knitt and helped me with my school work. Her name was Iola...I was the apple of her eye. I miss her so much but I will spend eternity with her in heaven and you will see yours too! Thanks Sandie for sharing the memories
