Poem Artwork

Driving down life’s highway;
lies a double yellow line. The
line shouts you must follow,
you can never lead.  For now I am
your master, stay within my confines,
and if you contradict me, you shall
surely die.
As children we are told the same,
stay between the lines. Remember if
you stray, the picture won’t look nice.
Taking a risky adventure, we disobey,
and as we are scolded, we hang our
heads in shame.

Still winding down that crowded road, I grow
weary of its control.   I’m tired of obeying
double lines; I want to do as I please.

But I know in the near future, the straight
lines of gold will break. And when that
moment happens, I’ll lead the others,
I'll finally be free.

What is it they say? Life without risk is not worth living? I'm torn on whether I agree. The ending on this is so mysterious. It's as though you see an obstacle ahead that you need to swerve around? Thought provoking, and a good study of human nature.

Yes you will, and you'll fly high...just be patient and stay between those lines until you ready for that flight. Love and hugs for this great write. Love, Bonnie
