Rock in a Stream

Not autobiographical

Poem Artwork

Wordless hostility,

Waves of disappointment,

Tears that sting the corners of eyes.

 

Criticizing glances,

Icy cold silences,

Orchestrated dances of avoidance.

 

Lies,

Grief,

Disillusionment –

Dreams that have often been mocked.

 

Yet

Like a rock in a stream,

She continues to endure,

Shaped by the turbulence

That flows over her.

 

With the passage of time,

She has mastered each lesson –

Her eyes revealing the intensity of her soul.

 

As she sets out in search of her destiny,

She rests assured –

Knowing she is not alone.

This is beautiful and tha analogy of a rock in a stream always slowly eroding to a smooth shiny surface...that is special but strong to think on.

Dawn,

Love the metaphorical comparison between the rock and woman. As the water shapes and molds the rock so does life shape and mold the woman. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

It seems you have found your literary calling, Dawn . . . You have mastered the short verse as you have proven herein, and now you put them together to make for a longer version . . . It works! . . . Your insight is good . . . Your moralistic fiber is pushing against the doors of apathy when it comes to affairs of the heart and dangerous traits in human beings . . . Well done!!!
