Trust is perhaps the loftiest of gifts - it says so much about the character of all involved.

Between two persons 'Trust' is absolutelly the cement that hold them together. Without it there is NOTHING a all.

Wow! That took my breath away. A great deal of wisdom here. Who to trust is a something so difficult to answer sometimes. I'm one of those people who watches others in a group setting of some sort, usually art people, and watch to see how they treat and talk to others. If I see someone who is down to earth, not interested in stepping on others in an effort to get ahead and who doesn't talk badly about someone who isn't there, then I go for it. It is tempting to align myself with some who are situated at a higher level in the art field than myself but I don't because I know how it feels to be used by others who want only to bask in my pitiful glory. It all takes time but eventually I end up with a few very close and mutually enriching friendships. Such a terrific poem here Dawn. Well penned. Hugs, J'nia

Deep and thought provoking

I've know the hollow refections you describe in this poem, Dawn. One often has to wonder, as you poem so aptly does, if there are any people of integrity out there, anymore. I can identify completely with this. Well done.

It is extraordinarily difficult to find anyone anymore with honor, someone that you can trust unequivocally, someone that considers the feelings of another as worthy an undertaking as their own. Your work is always real and touching Dawn, you fluidly express what most of us struggle with.

Questions and answers that we all contemplate from time to time in our lives, but you are right...if we do not trust our instincts and give others the benefit of the doubt we may not be dissappointed but then again...what would we have to compare it to?

i've learned never to rely on no one but myself and never to second guess my gut instincts ... they are occasional moments when the air seems to be running out, so i've learned how to hold my breath for a long time ;)

what if...what if...what if...we never comer up for air, if we get on swimming deeper and deeper into the silence and the weak light, where no sharp rocks of rejection or falsehood blinding flashes, what if we let our ordinary peace live forever without wanting a "better" peace?

I have a motto, "Do What You Have To." In other words if you don't do things for yourself. I'm not into the "selective" listening as is Jeanette, but I suppose I could be wrong. It is like the old saying in the State department, "Trust but Verify." That goes for your friends also. Good words to paper here.

A very thoughtful and thought-provoking write. Where ever there are people, there is going to be differences of opinion and conflict. The best way to avoid it is to be a selective listener and absorb what is helpful and tune out what is not. The other alternative is to disagree with someone and get into an argument.

Peace is the absence of conflict. But life would be dull if we only looked for conformity.

Hi Dawn...I've always found it's best to fix the problem not the blame. In doing that one always has time "to come up for air". I liked this very much.
