Just a little peek into the mindset of so many bent on destruction rather than actualization.

Chaos

Life can be boring,
life can be fun.
Nobody really wants,
life on the run.

But certain urges,
at puberty time,
drive us to madness;
we cross the line.

Some get the lesson,
some do not.
Some turn to blessing,
some tie the knot.

With so many vices,
from which to choose,
we get off the track,
into a life of lose.

Either running from,
the last big mistake,
or settling for 9 to 5,
slave wage stake.

Lost in this madness,
of routine discontent,
we secretly seek out,
excitement we rent.

We reach for the ring,
on the carousel round,
maybe the lottery this time,
our salvation to be found.

We secretly wish,
for chaos to come.
plunder for the taking,
life on the run.

Living out the fantasy,
of I, me, and mine.
we crave the excitement,
of life on unwind.

With a better future,
for all just around the bend,
so many fools want chaos,
so their torture will end.

Life choices are interesting, aren't they? As the poem cleverly states, some people wish for chaos so they don't have to work for a living. During the World Wars so many young men enlisted that there were mostly women in college classrooms. True, many figured it was the patriotic thing to do. Others were looking for adventure or perhaps an easy way out of a traditional life that appeared to be (boring, difficult, shackling). Pick one or more.

Chaos sounds much better to me than a 9 to 5 career.

As your poem so adroitly points out, we are a society bent on allowing chaos to break us down and ultimately, unless reversed, cause a self-destruction. A thoughtful work that is acute and obviously sincere.

Chaos is a form of torture. I crave peace and tranquility far from the maddening crowds. There sure is much chaos in the world at the expense of others.

I have given up chaos long time ago. A meaningful poem that flows well in meters and rhymes. Love it!!

Is this, maybe on a smaller scale, what our world does of late experience more of? We seem to be going back in time to the fifties with ICBM nuclear warheads aimed at our west coast. That sir, is Chaos to the ultimate extreme. As always, Ron a well thought out & posted write, the one person I look forward to reading every Saturday, though sometimes I miss it and have to catch up...-e- :)

Excellent! I could read this one 10 times and still not be bored. Lots of thoughts take flight and depending on the mood this poem may take on another light. Write on Ron!

Getting older I do find myself more prone to let it go.
No trying to force it anymore.
Instead of chasing- the best things come to me.
Much to think about in this rich poetry.

Look at their faces, those who want "Choas." They are ugly, and hateful, and when they eventually get the chaos it merely fans the flame for more.

I think my days of chaos has ended long ago Ron. I no longer chase it but if it comes my way, I do my best. Happy in my hum drum life with a few mundane surprises now and then. I enjoyed your poem today, xo

Chaos, drama, turmoil and strife. It's amazing how many people live their lives around those four. It's been my observation that some people just get comfortable being in a rut. Another winning write.

Indeed where is perfection in a world so complicated? Do we try to solve every problem? Can we accept fantasy, lessons and vices as long as they harm none? You have certainly raised many issues in this poetic masterpiece.
