The soft evening light is very soothing; the day is drawing to a close and it is a time of reflection; especially nice when there is garden outside your living-room window, and maybe an urban fox will slyly pay a visit, looking for a few tidbits to eat, left out by a kindly human.

The closing statement is really what life is all about... learning to be thankful for the here and now and wishing it away for what we deem to be greener pastures. I, for one, am still trying to learn that lesson though. :~)
This reminds me of the very first poem of yours I ever read - I love this because it echoes that poem, the place I formed my first impression of you . . . you were at a kitchen window in that poem and I believe it was morning(?). This, then, feels like full circle.

It is a wonderful thing to be able to have this kind of emotion, Dawn. It took me many years to appreciate what this poem is about. Thanks goodness I lived long enough to reach that state of consciousness.
