The blueness flows like glittering stars
through a universe of orange and gold.
I see myself in the shiny waters
reflected without pretense
exactly as I appear.
Where is the radiance in me
equal to Nature’s wondrous glow?
Where are my glimmering stars and gold?
Why am I so plain?
Am I not part of it all?

I peer a little closer
hoping to see beyond myself
to the entity who lives within this shell
of a face heaped in material thoughts and deeds.
I lift my head and listen for Nature’s call,
the one that will take me back to my roots,
the one that sings my song,
the song about life, death, and survival.
The call of the wild.

Where is my beauty? Where is my call?
I throw out a plaintive cry to the seasons
to lead my spirit on a journey to my core,
a journey of snow, wind, and fire
at the whim of an ever capricious Nature,
all to lead me to find myself.

Let Nature lead my spirit
to its proper place
in the hands of the Creator
to be part of the Grace and Beauty
that never ends.
