A workshop assignment to write an acrostic monorhyme of at least 10 lines, any topic. I chose to write about a storm at sea. I used the painting below for inspiration, The Storm on the Sea of Galilee, by Rembrandt.
STORMY SEAS
Seas were calm singing soft and sweet
Til the waters shuffled on restless feet
Oh slowly, then faster did they fleet.
Reeling, rolling, roaring feat.
Mast in motion, waves mere sheets
Yearning to swallow all they meet.
Suffocating waters, powerful beat
Eliciting ghosts, amazing feat.
Always conquering, never beat.
Stormy seas reign first soft and sweet.
