Lovely creature
Graceful, running into my view,
Pausing, round brown eyes search,
Long ears twitch and
Body stiffens, listening for a sound.
There being none,
The deer moves about softly,
On nimble legs, walking like on clouds
Searching the gentle green grasses
For a taste, a morsel of something.
The nose scrapes along the moist green
And then pauses in alertness.
The bounty has been found.
Sweet, crunchy apples strewn about
Shook from the tree by Nature herself.
I will splash this quiet image on the canvas
In my mind, a place where sweet things gather,
To glitter and glimmer and keep me sane
In a world gone superficial and wild.
I will look at my canvas and smile.
