An attempt at Huitain* form of verse.

Poem Artwork

What is this fruit that beckons me,

To stir my soul to see the light?

A special time is what I see,

then pass from darkness of the night.

Behold the beauty of its sight,

the deepness of its royal hue;

the simple grape gives such delight

that tips our tongues with wine so true .

* The HUITAIN is another Spanish form of poetry, one that revolves around the number eight - there are eight lines in the poem, and each line contains eight syllables.

The rhyme scheme of the line endings is: a-b-a-b-b-c-b-c. That's all there is to it!
