I have my horn

deftly shorn

to toot in the new year

Have my feathered mask

it does its task

to tickle my nose and my pate.

Have confetti

at my ready

to toss up into the air

Have a “cracker”

it’s really a snapper

to help me celebrate

Have me some bubbly

to fill my flute doubly

good apple cider for my “toast”

Have hat with glitter

on my head it will flitter

to brighten the hour that approaches.

Black-eyed peas

to temptingly tease

Good Luck for the coming year.

I’m ready and waitin’

as the old year’s abatin’

My kitties snuggled ‘round my feet

What I don’t have

are resolutions

Don’t make ‘em -

Won’t break ‘em
Life is much simpler that way.
