A Villanelle written for a Whimsybuggs writing assignment.
Receptive ears wiggle easily at any sound,
Moving frequently from west to due east,
Until the subtle movement has been found.
Gigantic trees pass a million miles around,
Cloaking the silent, stalking jungle beast,
As it hunts, moving from mound to mound.
Stealth actions, moving low to hard ground,
While the pray suspects nothing, at least,
Not until the fast old predator has it downed.
Gorged, belly filled, gentle as a foxhound,
Licking its lips and smacking up its feast,
It slathers, until it is wet and nearly drowned.
Innocence is gone, gobbled up by the pound,
Yet the old predator feels truly fleeced,
And drifts off, not longer tether or earthbound.
Wild animals rage, noisily in the background,
And silence never falls, for those deceased,
Yet, in this world of wonder, life is impound,
In a jungle, where God is the only priest.

who likes to hide as witch
a wicked wily hipster

I looked behind a toads nest
and sure enough I see
the old hag witchy flat chest
in toothless smiles of glee
