You have no illusions. I came to that conclusion reading Sarte lomg ago. If more of us existed, the world would be a much better place. There would be no, 'God's will', and other excuses for our bad behavior.
God has given us choices - I've actually written something on that - CHOICES. He does live in us - but the choices we makes are ours - our responsibilities.
The greatest gift God gave us was choice... I, too, ask these questions, but I never doubt the presence of a God... this realm of existence is about suffering and was modeled by Jesus Himself... the ones who suffer the must, doubt the least...

It is truly amazing how you show us God is alive in our "Self's" therefore, placing full responsibility of all that happens on self and on one else.
Resopnsibility is ours, yes, and it has always been that way whether we believe in God or not. We are given life and what we do with it is up to us. Perhaps we even have the power to make ourselves sick or well. Certainly, most of our suffering is brought on by our attitude toward our circumstances moreso than by the actual circumstance. Personally, I don't think that I have to stop believing in God to take responsibility for my life or my actions. It is comforting for me to believe that where my strength and ability ends, His begins. I suppose it is all subjective, but for me, I can take responsibility and still feel a comfort in my heart that when I leave this place, He will fulfill the promise of a better place and eternal life through love. Again, it is a matter of attitude...This makes me feel positive and good, why would I wish to believe something that makes me feel any other way?
