A LONG ROAD AHEAD

As we travel these roads paved by the old
We must absorb the bold lessons that were left for us
We must absorb the nourishment that our mothers
Before us breast-fed us
As we travel these roads of our ancestors
We cannot let their spirit rot and fester
We cannot continue to be victimized by these mental molesters trying to convince us that
We are worthless or…not capable
Trying to convince us that social poverty/inequity
Is inescapable…
Brand…Name and Label us as minorities but
Do a head count and discover that we are the majority
As we travel down these roads paved by our fore fathers
We cannot continue to be slaughtered
We cannot continue to walk in herds…
Believing in this absurd
Idealization that this is a free nation
Believing that the government gives a damn about race relations
About South Africa’s starvation
Our black leader’s assassination
Corrupt litigation
We cannot continue receiving the government’s anal penetration

As we travel down these roads
We must begin to pave the way for the next generation
We must build a solid foundation
We cannot continue aimlessly through life’s revolving door
We must turn their glass ceiling into our hardwood floors
We cannot continue picking the scabs or our old soars
As we travel down these roads paved by the old
We must hold on tight to the fight
That was fought for us
Before us
We must adore us
We cannot continue to let them ignore us
We must adore us…
Like the kings and queens we were born of
So let’s not let history repeat
Let’s not continue to give up our seats
Let’s not hide and retreat
Let’s not march to the drum of that same worn out beat…
Let’s stop dragging our feet

Let’s rebuild and repave…the road ahead must be saved
Let’s rebuild and repave…the road ahead must be saved

your words provoke conscious thought and invoke dormant conceptions into being. Lord knows the road ahead is long and a new awareness is needed. Break out the orange cones...

Well done Tiffany!
Your words do indeed stand tall and tell this day.
Pen on in passionate heart, [pen on, never looking back to the traced scent of yesterday, but always eyes focusing on the promise and steadfst hope of advancement, on the brow of the morrows dawn.
Warmly,
Rodney Evan Bohen
