Poem Artwork

real soon

memories,
stubborn lot,
why not flee,
and leave the best
of me
what's left of
the beast in me
to decide
how i feel;
why choose me
to deal
with the bulk
of this?

yet!
i catch
my self,
to self
again,
realizing how
purposely barren
i'd be
were all of this
to be concisely,
precisely removed,
a painful extraction,
to ward off the distraction
of everything
we were
that never could be.

once gone,
i'd be just as shy,
because
i'd want
all those
stolen moments
brought back,
in all their wicked
lack of comfort,
to be placed
solidly,
in the darkness
of my heart.

stiff reminder,
yes,
chronically painful,
perhaps so--
inasmuch as i held
nothing real
took hold
which ultimately
begets to begone,
revealing
the real
kind way
to healing,
remembering
not so
to better embrace
we'll see.

Anne,

So good to feel your pain again, to see your inside. I thirst for the inspiration that drives me through the fog of the present life. Your writing is like a fix, which I sorely needed. I’m happy to be back amongst such talent as you. We will need to catch up at some point.

Gary

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.

Extraterrorestrial Beings v4 by RickthePoetWarrior

Our heroes are revealed for all they are, the final flash of a dying star, for with this pen I do they mar, with hopes I leave ‘em all a scar.

Born in Salt by T. Weber

In a post-coup America, an Illinois farm boy is drawn into the resistance by his brother's death. Captured, he is given a choice: betray his friends, or the girl he loves will be lobotomized.
