Anemic love corpse, taps her collar bones,
hearing no telltale bamboo resonance,
bones transformed to sponge and mush,
her sternum, osteoporotic, lacy at best,
laudable pus, splinted, guarded rib cage.
Inflamed tissue, pain on every inspiration,
each exhalation a bloody, wholly hell fire,
heart burning, beefy lungs, encased in blood,
unable to hold self-to-self to save same,
soul, lost forever, in the space between.
