.... flame awaits flame.

Poem Artwork

They all reached in,
and stirred things up a bit.
Feeling alive and motivated,
you always gave flight a chance.
You never hestitated to offer up,
everything you had.

Before your eyes,
they danced wildly in the night.
It had to mean something to you.
They told you it really did.
Look how good they felt in
being around you!

You wanted more,
something less moth-to-flame.
For a time you even contemplated
shutting off your heart's porch lamp.
But stubbornly lit, that final night,
flame found flame.

Ahh...so beautiful. Brings back memories of chasing fireflies around the yard with an empty jar at sundown.

It is ever and always flame to some moth. Flickers and shivers, in equal amounts.

Beautiful piece Anne.
I always seem to get the 'moth to flame' scenario, and sadly, I get to be the moth.
