Love and Bones

Humpty Dumpty
sat on my wall,
knocked it down,
took it all, and said,
"All the king's horses,
and all the king's men,
they will ride in and
have at you again!"

Sticks and stones
have broken me,
nothing left of love
but splintered bone,
marrow depleted,
veins lying there,
the final strands,
loose like thread.

Ring around my rosie,
a pocket full of nosies,
asking, asking, they
all fall overthemselves,
"Who will put her
back together again?!"
Two birds were in this bush,
what's left now only feathers.

Time wounds all heels, er, heals all wounds. Somebody once said that, but I don't know who. This is an interesting take on the subject.

Mommy's version was different! You've melted old and new into reality. I like the rhythm.

Jack be nimble and Jack be quick

Jack be the first to touch her...

Bits.

And dry his tears in the feathers.

Very nice.

Who were the two lucky birds who blew it?

This again, is so unique, I so look forward to reading your work because I never know what to expect except that it will be exceptional and with strong images that remain.

Anne - my goodness! The poet never falls; the pen won't allow it to happen. One reads so much into those last two lines - I think that each reader will walk away with a different meaning - whatever's "right" for them. Outstanding work.

I can feel the melancholy, Anne, yet there's a sort of "bite" in it as well.. I must say, I like Maria's comparison of this to a surreal painting.. I'd say you've flexed some interesting thoughts here and it packs a punch! katy xox.
