Sometimes, the well goes dry.

Poem Artwork

 

Weathered

Words rain onto paper,

They make dots and splotches,

And sometimes they run together

Where they shouldn’t.

Today a drought began.

I feel dry and brittle,

As if I am made of clay.


If I cannot moisten the clay,

With my word-rain,

The clay will crumble.

I look down.

My feet are covered with dust.

Take some of that dust and pour some wine on it. Once it bakes into bricks you have the makings of the building blocks of a new novel.
