My door is unlocked.  Open it.

Come in to sit, reflect, rest, pray,

Or stand singing praises to peace and love.

Allow my wholly ruined rafters to ring again,

Time destines my fall too.

It could be a metaphor for the church itself. While the principles of Christianity are firmly held in most Americans' view of life, philosophically, those that truly believe in fervently support the church are a declining portion of the citizenry.

Perhaps that's why the backlash is so strong.

Love those old, deserted buildings. They "speak to me" even though
they of course they never utter utter a sound.
