Eroding Dreams

Eroding Dreams

 

Looking to the sky each morn

I searched for signs of promise:

 

the blues,

the pinks,

reminding me

of dreams still held within…

 

Rain prevaricates the view,

and clouds no longer augur.

 

The sands

of time

still tr-i-ck-le down,

eroding hope in dreams

 

 

augur:  to suggest or indicate what will happen in the future

 

prevaricates: to avoid giving a direct and honest answer or a clear account of the situation, especially by being deliberately ambiguous or misleading

Sheesh, hasn't anybody read my stories? I thought prevaricates, or prevarication if you will, describes my carreer. Or, perhaps those are lies? Where does one stop and the other start? Ahh, anyway, as always I am intrigued by your well chosen comparisons between feelings and the natural although I suspect in the case of such a beautiful person that the erosion of hope is only an illusion--you truly build up treasures in heaven, and I think you will find that hope has been one of those treasures........Jerry

Interesting, I've always thought of prevaricate as lying. When I read the line, I said to myself, "prevaricates?". In reading your definition though, it makes complete sense. Thanks for enumerating your words. ~ Sara

Dear Cryssa, First I appreciate your footnotes it is a generous consideration for the elderly readers who do not need to dig in their memory. Not everyone is in the age of remembering words once learned in the past.Hope should never erode, although dreams may prove to be futile. The answer to those is faith.Thank you for sharing. Faith, Hope and Love and the greatest of these is Love.Christ says "Love your enemies" Boy I sure need a lot of love for those ruining our Country in DC but I pray for them none the less.
