Sometimes when we're little we don't understand but when we're grown we do.

Don’t Push Me Away!

There was a tiny blue eyed girl that never understood,

Why her mommy would push her away, when she was being good.

She wondered what she did, that must have been so bad.

To make her mommy angry, and to make herself so sad.

Why was she so quiet, and can't her mommy see?

This little girl is lonely and she is only three.

She asked God many times, when she knelt down to pray.

To make her good so her mommy would love her someday.

At times things looked better and everything seemed all right.

Her mommy would push her away again, wouldn't read to her that night.

It must have been an awful thing that this little one had done.

It may have been that she's a daughter for they surely loved their son.

She'd get so ill from time to time, and never gain a pound.

When she was told to go to bed, she rarely makes a sound.

The life seemed to dwindle out of her, with each passing day.

And it was very uncommon, when she had much to say.

If only I could tell her that it's nothing she had done.

And it's not because she's bad, or because she's not a son.

Her mommy really loved her, but was afraid to care.

She lost one daughter years ago, and this would make a pair.

I wish I could help this child see, that she was not alone.

But she will never see these things until the day she's grown.

The ache this caused for both of them, was truly sad to see.

They both had so much love to give, I know, for that little girl was me.

Written from the pain of childhood, about something I didn’t

understand.

You have reached out and touched my heart with this one. Remember that feeling well of being pushed away, guess it is something that never leaves us not matter what age....

Be safe,
Karen

Bonnie,

Such a sad write...the harm parents invariably do to their children. Well penned. It seems you broke the cycle.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
