The love a mother has for her youngest son. How proud she is and hard to let go it was.

Held On Tighter!

Tommy,

Having you in my life; Do you know what you are?
The youngest of all but a true shooting star.
I cherished the moments, I knew you were last,
I held on a little tighter, than I had in the past.

Your heart always loving, your energy unspent.
Your spirit constantly soared and couldn't be bent.
It's mystifying sometimes for me to believe,
That so many years past, since you were three.

On a day long ago, you came home, saw me cryin.
You said, "Mom I'll never hurt you", my heart went a flyin’
What a wonderful man you've turned out to be.
Pride fills my heart, you’re so astonishing to me.

When you lived at home, you'd try to get me to live,
Never taking no for an answer, having so much to give.
You worked so very hard and much on your own,
And accomplished so much, while away from home.

Life wasn't always easy, but for you, often unkind.
Never complaining, gave us such peace of mind.
Most young men would have thrown in the towel.
But you only worked harder and never cried fowl.

As a son, your everything a Mother dreams of.
When I think of you, it's with great joy and great love.
Wanting only for you the best life can give,
From back then to this for as long as you live.

Now, you know what you mean to me.
No matter how old we both are getting to be.
You will always have my heart and undying love,
Because to me, you were sent from God's Love.

For my youngest son Tom, who I love with all my heart.
