This is for a dear couple who were closer than any two people I have ever met. You never saw one without the other. They were my Great Aunt and Uncle and I loved them with all my heart.

Lemons!

Lemons are yellow, the beautiful color of sunshine,

Mixed with a little bit of sugar is how I love mine.

The juice of  lemons are so invigorating indeed.

There isn't a more refreshing drink,  at least for me.

I had a Great Aunt and Uncle who were as close as could be,

They were always together, where one was, the other you’d see.

They were bonded like glue from the first time they met.

And everyone agreed that they were a matched set.

Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Emma were closer than any sister or brother,

In my whole life I never saw one without the other.

Their names were very difficult for a tiny child to say.

So somehow I combined their names in a most unusual way.

I accidentally gave them the name of Uncle Lemons one day,

I heard everyone laugh as I ran out to play.

To me they were refreshing and like sunshine when they came.

So how important was it to say the correct name?

I don’t think they minded one tiny bit,

Cause the name I gave them surely did fit.

They were like lemons so sunny and bright,

Full of sugar and vigor so I had it right.

I miss those dear lemons who are now up above,

For they are in heaven enjoying God’s Love.

Weird, but this makes more sense than maybe you realise. London and within bowbells my dad came from.. The chimes.. Oranges and Lemons say the bells...... So it is a real term of endearment to a Londoner...
Most delightful, and has that clean, sharp feel.....
