How wonderful it is to watch a child experience his first time on skates.

Big Rink...Little Skates

Watching this tiny boy with little skates on his feet.
Skate like the big guys, trying to compete.

He was a delight to watch as he fell and got up,

Trying not to spill, the hot chocolate in his cup.

I couldn’t pry my eyes off him, as he skated on the ice.

Giggling a little, when he fell, once or twice.

But he never gave up and he gave it his all.

Skating around that huge rink, and trying not to fall.

You couldn’t help admire that sweet little guy,

His up and down skating, gave viewers a wonderful ride.

He was so determined to make it around the big pond,

And we all cheered for him which created a bond.

The rink must have looked gigantic to this little boy,

And as he skated by, he gave everyone joy.

Even the big guys would encourage him going by,

Not once did he complain, not once did he cry.

He just kept a goin’ with his determined task.

Giving us pleasure and creating such laughs.

Oh, how proud, his Mom and Grandma must be.

I know the Grandma is, for that Grandma is me.

Written for Dalton, the determined little boy.

Love you Dalton.

The determination of one so young. It [like your poem] inspires us to keep trying in the face of challenges.

God bless you. Kathy

Lot of gumption, this little guy has! And I'd bet his not-giving-up attitude is deep in his genes. So enjoyed this wonderful sharing you've given us, Bonnie!

Oh, and tell Dalton I think he's a cuttie-pie, and will make a great skater!

The joy children bring to one's heart is always amazing. To observe how they concentrate on any given task is beyond words. Just lovely and so true to life, but you had a magnificent day.....

Be always safe,
