I experienced this wonderment at a recent book reading.

Poem Artwork

Opening a Door

Reading to the children and seeing the wonderment in their eyes.
Gives your heart much joy at their expressions of surprise.
It’s like opening a door to a stagnant room and letting the fresh air in.
Opening a love for learning, enchanting them from where they’ve been.

To see their little minds open and absorbing what you’ve read.
Is such a blessed feeling, much like your daily bread.
When the story is ending and you begin to look around.
You see their anticipation, at the new discoveries they have found.

They will keep on reading, finding exciting adventures to explore.
This is what you opened, when you opened that door.

Great poem and glad you can read and help children with your books and yourself. You are an amazing person and doing so well.

Who had more fun--the author reading her book to the children, or the children listening to the story?
Your poem captures the excitement of both, as well as the joy of opening that door for them.

Books...Reading. Don't know why the government doesn't invest in motorized "Lbrary Reading Rooms". Going into ALL neighborhoods. Not only get's kids off the street, but encourages them to stay in school for a good education! Might even avoid drug usage. It's shameful, for the adults, how many youmg people have never read a book.
Great, thoughtful poem, Bonnie!!!
